Passion Pit and friends to electrify O’Dome

By ALYSSA HOLCOMB

Electro-pop ensemble Passion Pit are headed to the Stephen C. O’Connell Center in Gainesville on Wednesday, October 24, bringing fellow techno-rockers Youngblood Hawke and Afrobeat-inspired duo Wild Belle with them to create the ultimate indie dance party.

Passion Pit, a group of Massachusetts musicians, are touring on the release of their sophomore effort Gossamer. The album, which peaked at #4 on the charts, features the lead single “Take A Walk”, which the band recently performed on Saturday Night Live.

Led by frontman and Berklee School of Music grad Michael Angelakos, the group is also noted for their remixes, lending their talents to artists including Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Bruno Mars.

Los Angeles-based Youngblood Hawke, supporting their self-titled EP, has had radio airplay [including Rock104.com] with their debut single (and so-called ‘personal anthem’) “We Come Running”. Already having been through the music industry cycle, friends Sam Martin and Simon Katz recruited Tasso Smith, Alice Katz, and Nik Hughes to round out the group that has been featured on RollingStone.com.

Chicago-centered Wild Belle has had more of an online base with songs like “Keep You” and “It’s Too Late”. The sibling pair of Natalie and Elliot Bergman are known for their seventies-infused flare.

All three groups are sure to bring the techno-pop feel to Gainesville, so be sure to get your tickets while they are still available – online at ticketmaster.com.
