6/22/14 @ 10:00 PM: Studio Rio Presents: The Brazil Connection

Embracing the All In One Rhythm™ Theme of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Studio Rio Presents: The Brazil Connection is an innovative collection of 12 beloved vocal recordings re-experienced through new samba and bossa nova arrangements created by iconic Brazilian musicians and The Berman Brothers.

In this one-hour radio special, hosted by David Dye (of NPR’s The World Cafe) and produced by Paul Chuffo (Joyride Media), we’ll go behind the scenes and hear how familiar songs were transformed and talk to producer Christian Berman, drummer Paolo Braga, and arrangers Marcos Valle, Roberto Menescal, Mario Adnet and Torcuato Mariano.

10/18/13: Sly & The Family StoneHigher!

Celebrate International Funk Day on Friday, October 18th with a brand new, career spanning, two-part Sly & the Family Stone radio special. The special includes music from the first-ever deluxe Sly & the Family Stone 4-cd anthology box set, Higher!, released August 27th, also honoring Sly’s 70th birthday in 2013.  The collectible package features 77 tracks, including 17 previously unreleased cuts.

All through the brilliant highs and the murky lows of the late ’60s and early ’70s, Sly & The Family Stone had the globe dancing to the music. The creativity of the mixed-race, mixed-gender, and mixed-genre band shines in this CD of highlights from the new 77-track, four-cd box set.
