Seether Bassist Discusses Flyleaf Friendship: Seether's Dale Stewart says he was put off a bit by current tourmates Flyleaf when he met them a few years ago. "I thought they had attitude. They never talked to us," recalls the bassist. That relationship soon changed, though. "They came out of their shells, and we've become good friends," Stewart maintains. Meanwhile, Seether have just added a slew of July dates to their North American tour, which includes several gigs with Finger Eleven.
Adult-Film Company Challenges Hendrix Estate: The producers of Jimi Hendrix The Sex Tape have challenged the company that handles the late axeman's legacy to back up its claim that the man featured in the newly released porno film isn't the legendary rocker. Vivid Video executive Steven Hirsch says his company will pay $100,000 to Experience Hendrix if conclusive proof is brought forth that the flick isn't genuine. "Vivid took considerable time and spent a substantial sum of money to authenticate the footage," insists Hirsch.
Disturbed To Participate in Free Online Gig: Disturbed will be performing to a global audience on May 29 at 7 p.m. ET when they play an online show as part of the Pepsi Free Concert Series. Fans will be able to interact and communicate with the nü-metal act during the gig, which won't cost anything but will require a ticket that can be acquired here. Disturbed will release their fourth album, Indestructible, on July 3.
Beastie Boy Recalls B-Ball Flick's Genesis: Beastie Boys rhyme-slinger Adam Yauch's new Gunnin' for That #1 Spot flick documents the lives of 24 high-school basketball players who participated in a 2006 MVP game in New York. "My friend asked me to be a coach, which I don't know how to do, but then he started asking me how to document the game," says Yauch of the film's origins. "I thought, 'I should do this.'" Yauch also reveals that the Beasties are "40 percent" finished with a new album.
3DD Dates With Staind, Hinder Announced: 3 Doors Down have unveiled dates for a U.S. summer tour that's scheduled from a July 9 stop in Maryland Heights, Mo., through a Sept. 7 gig in Burgettstown, Pa. As expected, the majority of the shows will include support from Staind and Hinder. Finger Eleven will fill in for Hinder at a July 30 concert in Clarkston, Mich., while Staind won't be on the bill for the jaunt's final two performances.
Farrell Bringing Kids' Festival to Los Angeles: Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell plans to mount an expanded version of his Kidzapalooza event at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Sept. 28. The children-friendly festival, which debuted as a side stage at Chicago's Lollapalooza in 2005, will feature performances by Farrell and others, plus fun activities like hip-hop classes, break-dancing lessons and fake tattoo applications. The singer will announce the full lineup during an ice-cream party on Saturday in Los Angeles.
